Nicola grew up in Cape Town, South Africa, and first started “skurfing” on a 7foot surfboard, behind an inflatable boat, at the age of eight.
She moved to the United Kingdom at the age of nine and was introduced to cable wakeboarding at age ten. Nicola’s interest in boat wakeboarding was rekindled when the UK wakeboard Nationals was held at her local cable park.
She made the transition to boats at the age of eleven and her rise through the ranks, considering the limited riding time available, due to the inclement weather in the UK, was remarkable. Her natural ability was evident from the very beginning and her results are testimony to her abilities and her talent. Nicola was able, through wakeboarding, to travel the world entering various competitions and resulted with her being sponsored to come live and compete in the US.
Nicola repaid the faith shown in her by having the best ever 2008 season by a female wakeboarder in history. At only 16 years of age this is just the beginning for her. Nicola strives for greater things and hopes to continue to be an inspiration to the younger up and coming riders.
